Mount pens long-term deal with Chelsea

Mason Mount has signed a new five year deal with Chelsea, according to the Telegraph.

The highly-rated midfielder is set to be given a chance to shine at Stamford Bridge this term, with new manager Frank Lampard set to put his faith in the club’s young players.

Mount and Lampard spent last season together at Derby County with the Rams finishing in sixth place in the Championship, eventually losing in the play-off final to Aston Villa.

The twenty-year-old racked up forty-four appearances in all competitions for the Rams, scoring eleven goals while he was also prolific during a season-long loan spell with Dutch side Vitesse the year before.

Having represented England from every level from U16s to U21s, Mount was handed a senior call-up last October but is yet to make his debut for Gareth Southgate’s side.

He could make his first Chelsea appearance as they take on Manchester United in the opening weekend of the season.
