Mourinho wants Barcelona ace Xavi

Xavi is a player who has come through the ranks at Barcelona and made his name as one of the world’s top midfielders. The 28 year old is just reaching his prime, but Barcelona might have some problems in keeping hold of their product.

Goal.com revealed that the creative midfielder is currently targeted by Jose Mourinho at Inter. A transfer fee of about €40 million would do the job to persuade Barcelona to let him go, according to the football website. However it cannot be smooth sailing for Mourinho is his attempts to sign the player. Xavi has come through the Barcelona system and he supposedly wants to finish his career at the Catalan club.

“We are lucky that Xavi is a highly-valued player around the world because his performances for Barcelona have always been very regular,” Said Xavi’s agent.

“Even if offers arrive, that does not mean that we have to hear them because his intention is to fulfill his contract with Barça.”

This will come as good news for Barcelona fans who are seeing their squad being dismantled in front of their own eyes. Barcelona has already made three major swoops and will be looking for more, but it is thought that players like Xavi and Puyol will always have a future at Camp Nou.

Xavi is a holding midfield player in Barcelona, if we loose him we loose alot more than a simple midfielder. He also takes all the free kicks for the team and will be a great loss. He is a player that will be hard to replace.
