Mourinho wants Luis?

According to reports in Spain, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is interested in bringing Filipe Luis to Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid. The veteran defender has a price tag of around £22 million on his head at this moment in time, and the former Chelsea star is already well aware of what it’s like to compete in the Premier League.

The bigger story here, beyond Mourinho wanting Luis, is how desperate United appear to be to bring in more defensive options. Nobody can blame them given some of the problems they’ve had already throughout the course of the season, but it does beg the question as to how far they have to go before being considered a legitimate title contender once again.

While that was likely never a realistic goal for this season things have certainly gone worse than they could’ve imagined, and it’ll be intriguing to see how they bounce back in the January transfer window.
