Newcastle dealt Perez blow

Newcastle United look set to miss out on signing Arsenal forward Lucas Perez, according to the Express.

The Spaniard has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium following the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette, but is eyeing a return to his home country.

Deportivo La Coruna are hoping to secure the twenty-eight year old’s services which will come as a blow to Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez, who is still looking to strengthen his squad after leading the North East outfit back into the top flight.

Perez signed for the Gunners last summer but failed to make a real impression on Arsene Wenger’s first team.

He racked up twenty-one appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals though only one of those strikes came in the Premier League.

He netted in the 3-3 draw with Bournemouth back in January, while only two of his league outings came from the start.
