Newcastle set sights on Alassane Plea

The Tyneside club Newcastle United are looking to add more firepower during the summer transfer window and will make a move towards Nice striker Alassane Plea, the Sunderland Echo has learned.

Rafa Benitez is eyeing a number of attacking targets as he looks to freshen up his forward line for next season.

With Fulham-loaned Serbian star Aleksandar Mitrovic almost certain to leave the club and Islam Slimani failing to make an impact in the first team, Newcastle United are actively looking for reinforcements.

The latest striker to be linked with Newcastle is Nice forward Alassane Plea.

The French forward can play on the wing or through the middle and his versatility helped him generate an 18-goal tally in France this term.

He burst onto the scene last season with 14 goals whereas he only maintained and upgraded his form this campaign.

Everton and Burnley are said to be watching the 25-year-old as well with £15 million being mentioned as the amount required for his signature.
