Newcastle United eye Norwich City centre-back Ben Godfrey

According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are among the clubs interested in signing Ben Godfrey from Norwich City in the summer transfer window. The Magpies have reportedly join Premier League rivals Everton and Fulham in the race for the 22-year-old central defender, who is playing in the Championship this season after his club Norwich got relegated from the top flight of English football at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

Steve Bruce’s Newcastle are on the hunt for a new centre-back and want to bring Godrey to St. James’ Park. Newcastle are reported to be working on a deal to make the transfer happen before the window closes this month.

Godfrey has been at Norwich his entire professional club football career so far. The 22-year-old centre-back played 30 matches in the Premier League last season, while so far this campaign he has played 270 minutes in the Championship for Norwich, according to WhoScored.
