Newcastle United keeping tabs on West Bromwich Albion’s Sam Johnstone

Newcastle United are interested in signing Sam Johnstone from West Bromwich Albion in the January transfer window, according to TEAMtalk. It has been reported that West Brom have told Johnstone that they will consider bids for him in the New Year, and Premier League club Newcastle are considering making a move for him.

Martin Dubravka is the first-choice goalkeeper at Newcastle, while Karl Darlow is his main back-up. However, the Slovakia international is 32 years of age now, and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) seem to want to a new and younger goalkeeper.

Johnstone is one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship and is also an England international. The 28-year-old goalkeeper is at the top of his game and would be a brilliant signing for Newcastle, not just for now, but in the long run as well.
