Looking to extend on what has been a recent purple patch, Northampton will welcome Carlisle to the Sixfields Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Northampton might have lost their League One status last season, Jon Brady’s men are enjoying a recent fourth-tier purple patch. With their sights firmly set on securing an immediate return, the Cobblers are already battling it out in the automatic hunt. Smelling a real chance on Saturday afternoon, they managed to lay down another marker last weekend. Claiming a deserved 2-0 win away at Tranmere, Northampton have won each of their last three matchups on the spin. Keeping a clean sheet in each of those three consecutive victories, Brady will also be boosted by their eye-catching record against Carlisle. Including picking up a 2-0 win when the two sides last faced off back in 2019, the hosts are unbeaten in each of their last five meetings against Saturday’s opponents, recording four victories.

As for the visitors, while Northampton might be flying high, the same cannot be said for a struggling Carlisle side. Only managing to collect a 0-0 stalemate against fellow strugglers Oldham last weekend, the Blues are battling it out at the foot of the table. In the midst of a five-match winless run, the Cumbria-based outfit have collected just a single win across any format from their last nine attempts, a run that stems back to September 4th. Gaining a reputation for their struggles in the final third and drawing a blank in four of their last five outings, new boss Keith Millen has a real test on his hands this weekend. Given their woeful record against the promotion contenders, we’re backing a home victory for Northampton on Saturday afternoon.
