Competition: Oldham win

Market: League Two

Odds: 1/1 @ 888sport

With a real chance to extend on their recent rise up the League Two table, Oldham will welcome Scunthorpe to Boundary Park on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Oldham might have really struggled when opening the New Year by collecting just a single point from their opening five League One appearances, the Latics have enjoyed a recent bounce. Skyrocketing their way up the table and appearing to have found some much-needed stability under Head Coach and former Liverpool midfielder Harry Kewell, the Blues were last seen earlier in the week picking up a thumping 3-1 win away at Bradford while on EFL Trophy duties. With the mood around Boundary Park at arguably the highest it has been in recent memory, Oldham find themselves enjoying a three-match winning run across all competitions. Also managing to pick up a very impressive 2-1 win against Cheltenham Town in the fourth-tier last month, Kewell’s men will be looking to lay down another marker on Saturday.

As for the visitors, while the mood in Oldham’s camp should be on the rise, the same cannot be said for a Scunthorpe outfit who are already seen as one of the leading contenders in the relegation race. Hit with a 2-1 defeat against fellow strugglers Mansfield in the EFL Trophy earlier in the week, Neil Cox’s men also saw their FA Cup adventure come to an end thanks to a 3-2 defeat at home against National League side Solihull Moors last weekend. With a real reputation for their continued issues at the back and also hit with a woeful 5-0 drumming against Cambridge at Sands Venue Stadium, Scunthorpe have now lost each of their last eight matchups across all formats on the spin. Already sat three points adrift in the drop zone, we’re backing a home victory on Saturday afternoon.
