Over 1.5 goals at Crystal Palace vs Newcastle 4/11 for Saturday’s Premier League contest

Competition: Premier League

Market: Over 1.5 goals

Odds: 4/11 @ 888sport

Hoping to pile even more pressure onto Newcastle this weekend, Crystal Palace will welcome Newcastle to Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, after being left heartbroken across the capital on Monday night, there is no doubt that Crystal Palace will be desperate to build off of their positives. Having to settle for a 2-2 draw away at Arsenal after watching the Gunners snatch a last-gasp equalizer, the Eagles do appear to have found their feet under new boss Patrick Vieira. While the south London outfit might have only managed to collect just a single Premier League win since opening the 2021/22 campaign, Palace will be smelling a real chance here. Showing what they can do with that stunning 3-0 romp against Tottenham on September 11th, this weekend’s hosts have gained a reputation for their lively outcomes. Including Monday’s 2-2 draw at the Emirates, Vieira’s men have seen each of their last six matchups finish with over 1.5 goals.

As for the visitors, with it finally announced on Wednesday that Steve Bruce has been given his marching orders, Newcastle find themselves desperately seeking a boost on the pitch. While the Magpies might have got their new Saudi-led era underway last weekend, they could only mark their return with a 3-2 defeat against Tottenham on home soil. Knowing they’re at the heart of a real relegation scrap this season, the north east outfit have failed to win any of their opening eight Premier League contests. Only showing a host of issues at the back, they could also be worried by their most recent meeting against Saturday’s opponents. When the two sides last faced off back in February, Palace landed a 2-1 win at St. James Park. In a showdown that could be another lively affair at Selhurst Park, we’re backing over 1.5 goals here.
