Competition: National League North

Market: Over 2.5 goals

Odds: 17/20 @ Bet 365

Knowing that three points in midweek could see them break back into the play-off spots, Gateshead will make the trip to Alfreton on Tuesday night in what could be a lively contest at the Impact Stadium.

Starting with the hosts, putting in another worrying display in what was a 4-2 defeat at home against Brackley Town over the weekend, Alfreton find themselves in the midst of a real rut. Losing each of their last three National League North matches on the bounce, including a 5-0 hammering against Spennymoor Town last month, the Derbyshire outfit have continued to show some glaring issues at the back. Along with being hit with back-to-back defeats in front of their own supporters, Alfreton have shipped a staggering 12 goals on their three-match losing run and Tuesday’s hosts have landed just a pair of clean sheets since the 4th of January. You might also want to note that four of Alfreton’s last seven matches on home soil have seen over 3.5 goals at full-time.

As for the visitors, while Gateshead’s 2-1 defeat against title contenders King’s Lynn Town over the weekend may have brought an end to their remarkable 10-match unbeaten run, Mike Williamson’s men still have a play-off finish on their agenda. Knowing that three points in midweek could see them break into the top-seven, the Tynesiders have continued to catch the eye with their performances on the road. Including a 3-0 win over Boston in their last matchup on their travels, Gateshead are unbeaten away from the International Stadium since the end of November. With each of the last four meetings between the two sides seeing over 2.5 goals at full-time, we’re backing a similar outcome in Derbyshire on Tuesday night.
