Over 2.5 goals at Coventry vs Birmingham 11/10 for Friday’s Championship contest

Competition: Championship

Market: Over 2.5 goals

Odds: 11/10 @ 888sport

Two sides who are really seeking a bounce when they return to action on Friday night, Coventry and Birmingham will face off at their shared home of St. Andrew’s this week.

Starting with Coventry, while the Blues might have marked their Championship return in eye-catching fashion over the summer, it has been a far from ideal start for Mark Robins’ men. Last seen heading into the November international break getting hit with a dramatic late 3-2 defeat away at Watford, Friday’s hosts have managed to collect just a single victory since September 18th and they have mustered just three points over their last five second-tier appearances. Already seen as one of the contenders in the race to avoid the drop this season, there is no doubt that Robins will have a real headache over his side’s rather glaring issues at the back. Shipping a trio of strikes against the Hornets last time out, Coventry have shipped at least a pair of goals in their last five contests on the bounce, a run highlighted by a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Blackburn.

As for the visitors, while Bimrimgham might have thought they had managed to turn a real corner when drawing a close to October, Aitor Karanka’s men also find themselves now seeking a real bounce. Last seen heading into the international break when getting hit with their own thumping defeat thanks to a 3-1 loss against Bournemouth on home soil, the former Nottingham Forest boss finds his new squad reeling from back-to-back Championship defeats. Coming under real scrutiny for what was a hugely concerning 2-1 defeat against relegation favourites Wycombe earlier in the month, the Blues also hold a record for their high-scoring encounters. With each of their previous four Championship appearances on the bounce seeing over 2.5 goals by the final whistle, we’re backing a similar outcome this week.
