In the midst of what has been their best run of the season so far, newly-crowned Coppa Italia champions Napoli will face off against SPAL on Sunday evening.

Starting with the hosts, putting in another dominant display and picking up a 2-0 win away at a high-flying Verona in midweek, the mood in Gli Azzurri’s camp couldn’t be any higher. Lifting the Coppa Italia for the first time in six years thanks to a penalties victory against Juventus, Napoli have really started to find their feet under former AC Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso. Finding a route back into the European spots and now in the midst of an eight-match unbeaten run, they should also be boosted by what is a dominant record against Sunday’s guests, particularly in Naples. Unbeaten against SPAL in all seven of their previous meetings, Napoli have won all three of their last matchups against the strugglers on home soil, keeping a clean sheet in each of those appearances.

As for the visitors, while the mood in Napoli’s camp might be at a continued high, the same cannot be said for a SPAL outfit hurtling towards a Serie B return. Marking their return from the enforced break with a sluggish 1-0 defeat at home against another struggler in the form of Cagliari, Head Coach Luigi Di Biagio has seen his side lose six of their last seven top-tier appearances, a run highlighted by dreadful 2-1 defeat against Lecce earlier in the year. Also hit with what turned out to be a 5-1 drumming against Lazio back in February, Gli Spallini find themselves sat seven points adrift of safety and holding the second-worst away day record of any Serie A outfit. With six of their last eight outings producing over 2.5 goals by the final whistle, we’re backing a similar outcome on Sunday evening.
