Nacional Asuncion’s title celebrations were dampened by Guarani in the Paraguay Division Profesional on Saturday.

The champions were playing at home for the first time since claiming the title, but suffered a 2-0 loss at the Estadio Defensores del Chaco.

Luis De La Cruz and Ivan Emmanuel Gonzalez were on the scoresheet for Guarani, who are third with three games to play this season.

Nacional Asuncion are top by 11 points and cannot be caught even if they taste defeat in every game for the remainder.

Elsewhere, Libertad needed a late winner to grab a 2-1 win at home to Deportivo Capiata at Estadio Dr Nicolas Leoz.

All the goals came after the 79th minute, but Jose Ariel Nunez’s 91st-minute strike proved to be the winner.

Olimpia did what was expected of them in a 2-1 win at Cerro Porteno PF, which came thanks to a brace from Arnaldo Castorino.

Julio Dos Santos’ 62nd-minute penalty saw Cerro Porteno to a thrilling 3-2 win at home to General Diaz, while Sol de America edged Rubio Nu 1-0.

Bottom side Deportivo Carapegua slumped to yet another loss as they were beaten 2-0 by Sportivo Luqueno.
