Petr Cech poised for Chelsea return

Thibaut Courtois’ proposed move to Real Madrid has sparked an avalanche of rumours dealing with a pressing goalkeeping issue at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgium international looks set to leave London this summer and Chelsea officials have already started searching for his replacements.

Sky Sports reports that former Chelsea custodian and now a goalkeeper for Arsenal Football Club – Petr Cech – could be on his way back to Stamford Bridge. The 36-year-old would be a proven choice in goal but it would appear age would make his a contingency choice until a long-term solution has been found.

Chelsea are said to be exploring other options as well and are looking into a possibility to sign the Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel from Leicester City.

Schmeichel has enjoyed a fine season with the Foxes and was a prominent player for the Danish national team at the World Cup 2018.
