Looking to extend on what has been a stellar run of form, Plymouth Argyle will make the trip to Morecambe on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Morecambe might have managed to secure their League One return over the summer, they are in the midst of what has been an extended struggle. Looking over their shoulder at the drop zone and many fearing they could be hit with an immediate fourth-tier return, Stephen Robinson’s men were last seen over the weekend putting in another worrying display. Blown away at Cheltenham Town and hit with a 3-1 drumming on the road, the Shrimps have lost each of their last four matchups across all formats. Facing what could be a real stern test at the Globe Arena on Saturday, Morecambe have only shown a host of issues at the back. Including shipping a trio of goals against the Robins last weekend, Robinson’s side have conceded 12 strikes on their four-match losing run.

As for the visitors, while Morecambe might be in the midst of an extended struggle, the same cannot be said for a high-flying Plymouth. Enjoying what has been a stunning run of form since opening the 2021/22 campaign, the Greens have only continued to gain a host of plaudits from across League One. Storming their way to the top of the table and suddenly tipped as the leading promotion contenders, Ryan Lowe’s side were last seen in midweek landing an eye-catching 3-0 romp at home against Bolton. More impressive, along with winning each of their last three League One contests on the spin, they’re unbeaten in each of their last 13 straight third-tier contests. With a growing reputation for their free-scoring displays in the final third, there is no doubt that a high-flying Plymouth should be smelling another golden chance here.
