The final day of the Premier League season is almost upon us and there’s still a whole lot left to be determined at both the top and the bottom of the table. Across 37 games we’ve seen a whole lot of drama in English football’s top flight and across the 10 fixtures on Sunday, we’re expecting that to continue. Today, we’re going to take a look at what should be an incredibly tense battle between Arsenal and Everton.

Arsenal

Arsenal did very, very well to fight back into a top four position but across their last few matches, they’ve allowed it to slip through their fingers. The defeats to Tottenham and Newcastle, back-to-back, serve as a reminder that there’s still a long way to go to fix the mentality of this club. If they want to get back into the Champions League, they need to win here and hope for a miracle when Spurs take on Norwich.

Team News

Holding is set to return from suspension but Partey, Tomiyasu and Tierney will all miss out on the final day.

Everton

Somehow, someway, Everton have managed to salvage what has quite clearly been a dumpster fire of a campaign. Frank Lampard doesn’t feel like the right man to lead this club forward into the future but for the time being, that doesn’t really matter. All they need to do after beating Crystal Palace is give a good account of themselves at the Emirates and then, in the summer, focus on beginning the rebuild.

Team News

Rondon is suspended, Patterson and Townsend are injured and Mina & Delph are both currently viewed as fitness concerns.

Factors to Consider

  • Arsenal are two points behind Tottenham in the top four race.
  • Arsenal have won four and lost two of their last six games.
  • Everton have won three, drawn one and lost two of their last six games.
  • Arsenal have scored 11 goals and conceded 10 in their last six games.
  • Everton have scored eight goals and conceded eight in their last six games.

Conclusion

If Everton still had something to fight for then this would be a bit tastier but as it is, this boils down to a fun game that the Gunners need to win – and while the Toffees may still want to put on a show, we imagine there will be a few hangovers in there from the midweek win. Therefore, we’re going to predict that Arsenal run away with this as 3-0 winners, although it probably isn’t going to be enough.
