The Premier League season is about to come to an end, with one more round of fixtures for us to enjoy. The game we’re looking at today is Burnley vs Arsenal, which should be a pretty intriguing ‘battle of the minds’ so to speak between Sean Dyche and Unai Emery. Not so long ago it felt like these two clubs were tussling in the league table, but now, they’re in pretty different situations. The Clarets are looking ahead to what they can improve next season, whereas the Gunners have the Europa League final ahead of them.

Burnley

Burnley’s fall from grace since their Europa League days has been pretty dramatic, but after fending off the threat of relegation once again, they’ll be feeling confident about what they can produce next season. They’ve got a full summer in which Dyche will try and turn things around, which he happens to be pretty good at doing. We aren’t necessarily suggesting they’ll be in the race for a European spot or anything, but we certainly shouldn’t be foolish enough to rule it out completely.

Team News

Either Hart or Pope are expected to be given a start here, with both being heavily linked with a move away from Turf Moor in the summer.

Arsenal

The Gunners have all but failed in their quest to secure a place in the top four, which is kind of embarrassing for them considering how easy their run-in seemed. The pressure is on their big trip to Baku later this month, but for now, it could be time for a few fringe players to get a run out. They aren’t going to get any minutes in the final, and the top four is all but gone. Why not throw a few unknowns out there in order to see how they fare on the big stage?

Team News

Mustafi is expected to be rotated into the squad, whereas Aubameyang will likely start in an attempt to keep the Golden Boot race alive.

Factors to Consider

  • In their last meeting back in December, Arsenal beat Burnley 3-1.
  • Burnley have won three, drawn one and lost two of their last six games.
  • Arsenal have won two, drawn one and lost three of their last six games.
  • Burnley have scored nine goals and conceded six in their last six games.
  • Arsenal have scored 11 goals and conceded 13 in their last six games.

Conclusion

Arsenal have the Europa League final to worry about, but we still think they’re going to put some energy into trying to cause a miracle in the top four race. They almost certainly aren’t going to succeed but we can still see them finishing the season off with a win, as narrow as it may be. They’ll play a few of the kids with one eye on Baku, but they should still be able to put in a respectable performance. If they don’t, then there will be even more pressure on the final given the stakes involved.

Prediction: Arsenal win

Best Odds: 6/5
