Torino will take a short trip across town to face their city rivals Juventus, who have recently won their eighth consecutive Serie A title, their 35th in total.

Juventus

Despite the overwhelming level of domination on domestic soil, Juventus will still feel this season to have been relatively unsuccessful. For a long time now their aim has been to win the Champions League, and to that end they signed Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid last summer; but even the five-time Ballon d’Or winner couldn’t help them avoid getting eliminated in the quarterfinals of UEFA’s elite club competition at the hands of Ajax.

With four games to go, they sit 18 points above second-place Napoli and the title is firmly secured, and the bragging rights in the city of Turin are pretty much all they have to play for in this game – a questionable motive for a club of such stature.

Team News

Manager Massimiliano Allegri will be without the services of forward Paulo Dybala, midfielder Sami Khedira and defender Martin Caceres, who are all inured. Forward Mario Mandžukić and defender Giorgio Chiellini remain to be assessed ahead of the game.

Torino

Torino, on the other hand, have a lot to play for and they certainly won’t be lacking motivation against their neighbour giants. They are currently seventh with 55 points to their name, one more than Lazio below, as many as AC Milan above, two less than AS Roma in fifth, and only three points behind Atalanta in fourth place. Everything is up for grabs; they have a very realistic chance of making the Europa League next season, and they are still in with a shout for the final place which leads into the Champions League.

Team News

Head coach Walter Mazzarri just might have the full squad at his disposal, but forward Iago Falque and defender Lorenzo Di Silvestri are doubts.

Conclusion

Form and the difference in class have been known to disappear in city derbies, and the difference in motivation just might get Torino over the line at the Allianz Stadium this time. It’s certainly something worth considering.

Verdict: Torino win.

Best odds: 24/5
