It’s been another weekend of entertaining Premier League football up and down the country with most teams in the top flight taking another step towards the end of the campaign which, at this stage, is very much on the horizon. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the game that is set to round off proceedings for this set of fixtures as Leicester City prepare to host Aston Villa in a game that will see the Foxes attempt to gain a measure of revenge following their Carabao Cup battles this season.

Leicester

The wheels have slowly but surely been falling off for Leicester City over the course of the last few weeks, if not months, and many are questioning what the direction of travel is going to look like for them between now and May. Brendan Rodgers knows that they are in a wonderful position to edge back into the Champions League, but they don’t exactly have momentum on their side. Thankfully, this is the sort of game that they’d have been hoping for under such a high pressure set of circumstances.

Team News

Mendy and Amartey have both been ruled out through injury whereas Vardy and Chilwell are big doubts. Barnes, Tielemans and Perez could all return to the starting XI.

Aston Villa

Dean Smith knows that Villa have their backs firmly up against the wall – but that doesn’t mean they’re going to give up without a fight. They’ve had the luxury of being able to sit back and really take in what’s happened around them this weekend, and now, they’re ready to go up against a side that they know they can beat. Even if they come away from the King Power Stadium with a point tonight, it’ll be viewed as a decent result.

Team News

Heaton, Wesley and Steer have all been ruled out through injury whereas McGinn is on the verge of returning to the first team after getting back into full training.

Factors to Consider

  • Aston Villa beat Leicester over two legs in January to reach the Carabao Cup Final.
  • Leicester have won one, drawn two and lost three of their last six games.
  • Aston Villa have won two and lost four of their last six games.
  • Leicester have scored four goals and conceded six in their last six games.
  • Aston Villa have scored eight goals and conceded 11 in their last six games.

Conclusion

As we all know it’s foolish to pretend like games in the Premier League work based on overall skill level, but these two teams really are an entire world apart. Leicester will dominate possession, pounce on any mistakes made by Villa, break with pace and consistency and carve out moments of magic whenever they get the opportunity to do so. Villa’s best hope is to really test them at the back, but even if they do that, we still believe the Foxes will come away with all three points.

Prediction: Leicester win

Best Odds: 4/9
