The return of the German Bundesliga after a long winter break was met with a great deal of positivity. Now, though, is when the schedule really begins to ramp up. All of the clubs involved in Germany’s top flight still have something left to fight for and that’s certainly true for RB Leipzig, as they attempt to capture the title. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the next step on their journey as they prepare to host Stuttgart.

RB Leipzig

The Red Bull experiment has led to a lot of progress for Leipzig as a club, but perhaps not quite as much as they would’ve desired. They are still one of the best teams in the Bundesliga but silverware is what will matter more than anything else in the years ahead. As such, it’ll be interesting to see just how close they come to pushing Bayern all the way, given how much their experience levels have grown.

Once upon a time, Stuttgart were one of the biggest clubs in Germany. You could make the argument, however weak it may be, that they still are – but the results don’t showcase that. They’re still a side that is struggling to steer away from the relegation battle and given how close is down there, they really need to take advantage of the quality in their squad. At the very last, grinding out results the ugly way should be on the table.

Factors to Consider

  • Leipzig are 2nd in the Bundesliga whereas Stuttgart are 14th.
  • Leipzig have won five and drawn one of their last six games.
  • Stuttgart have won two, drawn two and lost two of their last six games.
  • Leipzig have scored 19 goals and conceded five in their last six games.
  • Stuttgart have scored eight goals and conceded 10 in their last six games.

Stuttgart aren’t afraid to play a bit recklessly if the situation calls for it. However, in this particular situation, we think it’s going to get them into a lot of trouble if they try it for longer than 20 minutes. They are best suited to sitting back and waiting for the Leipzig pressure to come to them and even then, it isn’t going to pay off, with the favourites taking home a relatively comfortable 2-0 win and all three points to put some pressure on the leaders.

Prediction: Leipzig win

Best Odds: 2/5
