There’s plenty of midweek action to sink your teeth into across English football this week but aside from that, there’s also a to digest over in Italy and, more specifically, Serie A. Spezia Calcio played in the top flight of Italian football for the first time in its history last season and now, the hope and aim is for them to avoid the dreaded second season syndrome. They’re hoping to revert back to the status quo that got them to the dance but unfortunately, football doesn’t always work as a nostalgia act – and it also doesn’t help matters when you lose someone as valuable as Cristiano Ronaldo. The Old Lady are still a force, but it goes without saying that they’ve lost some of their mojo.
