Prediction: Sunderland vs West Bromwich Albion

Prediction: Match to end in 2-2 draw

Best Odds: 12/1

Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion will face each other in the Championship next week. The match will be held at the Stadium of Light and is scheduled to kick off at 8pm UK time next Monday.

Sunderland are playing in the Championship this season after winning promotion from League One at the end of last season. The Black Cats were once in the Premier League and were in League One for far too long for a club of their stature. And now Sunderland are back in the second tier of English football, and the hope among the fans is that they will get back into the Premier League.

Tony Mowbray’s side are 10th in the Championship table at the moment with 30 points from 21 matches. Sunderland are only one point behind sixth-placed Queens Park Rangers and 11 points behind leaders Burnley. It is hard to see the Black Cats challenge for the automatic promotion places in the Championship table this season, but they can certainly end up in the top six.

Sunderland will head into the match against West Bromwich Albion at the Stadium of Light in the Championship on the back of a 3-0 victory over Millwall at home in the league. It allowed a 2-1 victory over Birmingham City away from home in the Championship on November 11.

Team News:

Alex Pritchard did not train with the rest of the Sunderland team on Thursday due to a groin issue. Luke O’Nien also missed training after picking up a knock against Millwall last weekend. Daniel Ballard, though, is back in training and took part in a full session on Thursday morning. Ross Stewart is also available for the Black Cats.

West Bromwich Albion

West Bromwich Albion played in the Premier League for years, but now they are in the Championship at the moment. The Baggies are finished as low as 10th in the standings last season, which was very disappointing fo a club of their stature and ambition.

The Baggies are 21st in the Championship table at the moment with 23 points from 20 matches, level on points with third-from-bottom Wigan Athletic, who have played 21 games. Carlos Corberan took charge of West Brom in October 2022 following his departure of Steve Bruce, and things have started to pick up.

West Brom last played on November 12 when they got the better of Stoke City at The Hawthorns in the Championship. It followed a 1-0 win against Queens Park Rangers away from home following a 1-0 success over Blackpool at home in the league.

Team News:

Daryl Dike, Semi Ajayi, Grady Diangana and Karlan Grant could all return to action for West Bromwich Albion against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in the Championship next week.

Key Factors to Consider:

  • Sunderland have won 3 of their last 5 Championship matches.
  • Sunderland have scored 29 goals in 21 Championship gams.
  • Sunderland have conceded 23 goals in 21 Championship matches.
  • West Bromwich Albion have won their last 3 Championship games.
  • West Bromwich Albion have lost 2 of their last 5 Championship games.

Sunderland are doing well at the moment, but so are West Bromwich Albion. There should be a few goals in this match, which should be entertaining. It is very likely that the game will end in a draw.

Prediction: Match to end in 2-2 draw

Best Odds: 12/1
