The international break has come to an end and in its place, we begin what promises to be an incredible run of fixtures in the Premier League between now and the end of the year. There are so many great games on offer for us to take in with the “main event” Super Sunday offering this weekend being a clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United in North London.

Tottenham

The time has come for a new era at Spurs. Antonio Conte has come through the door and while the impact isn’t going to be immediate, many feel as if he could be the catalyst behind them becoming genuine contenders in the Premier League once again. Whether or not that comes to fruition, though, depends heavily on how he’s able to connect with what is a pretty great squad.

Team News

Hojbjerg and Lo Celso are both fitness doubts for this one with Conte hoping Hojbjerg will be back in time. Sessegnon is back in training but not yet fit enough ton start, Skipp is suspended and Gil & Romero are both on the shelf.

Leeds

Leeds United fans won’t want to hear the term second season syndrome a whole lot more but given their position in the table, it’s hard to ignore the signs. They’ve been found out by a lot of the teams they’ve come up against this season based on what they produced in their first campaign back in the top flight, and we’re interested to see what Marcelo Bielsa can do to change the status quo.

Team News

Gelhardt, Shackleton and Firpo are all viewed as doubtful to play a role in this game. Elsewhere, Bamford, Ayling and Koch have all been ruled out.

Factors to Consider

  • In their last meeting back in May, Leeds beat Tottenham 3-1.
  • Tottenham have won two, drawn one and lost three of their last six games.
  • Leeds have won two, drawn two and lost two of their last six games.
  • Tottenham have scored four goals and conceded seven in their last six games.
  • Leeds have scored five goals and conceded six in their last six games.

Conclusion

If there was going to be a “perfect game” to introduce Conte to Tottenham Hotspur, it’s this one. Leeds are going to come forward as they always do and they’re going to cause problems, as they always do. It’s a tough spot for the visitors because this one feels like a foregone conclusion – Tottenham come away with a convincing win to strike false hope into the hearts of their fanbase once again.
