Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur was certainly the ‘main course’ in the Premier League’s feast of derby football this Sunday, with the enthralling encounter boasting goals, cards and drama aplenty.

The Gunners took the lead early on through a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang penalty, only for Spurs to turn the game on its head through Eric Dier and a spot-kick from Harry Kane.

The home fans were rightly outraged with the decision to call a foul on Son Heung-Min inside the area, though they were smiling again soon after with second half strikes from Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Lucas Torreira clinching the victory.

Dismissed

Even more misery was piled on Mauricio Pochettino’s side with Jan Vertonghen dismissed for a second bookable offence late on, while the result Unai Emery’s men leapfrog their rivals into fourth place.

Liverpool kept to within two points of leaders Manchester City, though had to wait until the sixth minute of stoppage time to break the deadlock with forgotten man Divock Origi coming off the bench to score.

The goal led to wild celebrations from Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp which, whilst unprofessional was joyous to see, certainly from the eyes of a neutral though I am certain Everton fans won’t agree.

It remains to be seen what punishment will be handed to the German following his actions, though I would suggest anything more than a slap on the wrist would be too far.

Cheeky

The day’s action kicked-off at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea returned to winning ways against bottom-of-the-table Fulham – Pedro and Reuben Loftus-Cheek with the goals in a 2-0 victory.

Saturday’s action concluded at St. Mary’s, where Southampton and Manchester United played out a 2-2 draw – a game which proved to be Mark Hughes’s last in charge of the south coast club.

The bookmakers have his opposite number Jose Mourinho as the odds-on favourite to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job after yet another disappointing result.

Earlier on Saturday, champions Manchester City beat Bournemouth by three goals to one at the Etihad Stadium, while there were also home wins for Crystal Palace and Leicester City, who beat Burnley and Watford respectively.

Resolve

Elsewhere, Brighton and Hove Albion came from behind to beat ten-man Huddersfield Town and West Ham United thumped Newcastle United by three goals to nil at St. James’s Park.

Finally, Neil Warnock must still be smiling after his Cardiff City side beat Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday evening – the first time the Bluebirds have recorded back-to-back home wins in the Premier League.

On the other hand, much-fancied Wolves have now taken just one point from their last six games – form that has seen their relegation odds drop to 33/1.
