Tottenham Hotspur thumped Manchester United by three goals to nil at Old Trafford on Monday evening, piling more pressure on Jose Mourinho.

Harry Kane headed Mauricio Pochettino’s men in front five minutes into the second half before a brace from Lucas Moura put the result beyond doubt.

The result maintains Spurs’ one hundred percent start to the campaign while the Red Devils have now lost two of their opening three league games for the first time since the inaugural Premier League campaign – though they did go on to lift the trophy.

However, this was the heaviest home defeat of Mourinho’s career and the United boss was subjected to chants of ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ by the away fans.

Contenders

Tottenham soon face three of the favourites for relegation in succession, so could have the chance to firmly establish themselves as title contenders and they can currently be backed at a price of 12/1 to win the division.

Prior to that run of games, the North Londoners face two of the three sides who have also began the campaign with three wins from three – Liverpool and Watford.

Jurgen Klopp’s side edged past Brighton and Hove Albion in Saturday’s late kick-off thanks to a goal from Mo Salah while the Hornets beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Vicarage Road on Sunday.

It is the first time that Watford have started a top-flight campaign with three straight wins and victory against Spurs next week would see them equal their best winning streak in the division.

Late

Chelsea left it late to clinch victory against Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, but clinch victory they did maintain their perfect start.

The game was goalless until Eden Hazard put the Blues in front from the penalty spot fourteen minutes from time though Joselu drew the hosts level with seven minutes to play.

However, an own goal from DeAndre Yedlin was enough to see Maurizio Sarri’s side through and they sit third behind Liverpool and Spurs and ahead of Watford on goal difference.

Manchester City dropped points after only managing a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molinuex Saturday lunchtime.

Controversial

Willy Boly notched the hosts in from on fifty-seven minutes though replays showed that that ball went in off his hand, before Aymeric Laporte levelled with his first goal for City.

Bournemouth and Everton remain unbeaten after playing out a 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium – both sides finishing the game with ten men after both Adam Smith and Richarlison were dismissed while Leicester City beat Southampton 2-1 – Harry Maguire firing in the winner for the Foxes in stoppage time.

Unai Emery won for the first time as Arsenal manager with their 3-1 win over West Ham United keeping the Hammers pointless at the bottom of the table while Fulham also got off the mark thumping Burnley 4-2.

The Clarets have now slipped into the relegation zone where they are also accompanied by Huddersfield Town after they only managed a goalless draw against Cardiff City, who are yet to score this season.
