Champions Manchester City moved to the top of the Premier League after beating Brighton and Hove Albion by two goals to nil on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero secured the points for Pep Guardiola’s men, who leapfrog Liverpool into pole position after the Reds drew 1-1 with third place Chelsea in Saturday’s late kick-off.

Man-of-the-moment Eden Hazard put the Blues in front on twenty-six minutes only for substitute Daniel Sturridge to fire in a superb equaliser late on.

The Citizens are ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s side on goal difference ahead of the sides facing off on Sunday afternoon.

Golden

Tottenham Hotspur are in third after piling more misery on bottom-of-the-table Huddersfield Town, with a Harry Kane brace enough to see the North London side take the points.

The England striker, who has won the Premier League Golden Boot in two of the last three seasons now has five for this campaign and can be backed at a price of 5/2 to claim the prize this time around.

Arsenal continued their winning run and are now outside of the Champions League places by just goal difference after beating Watford 2-0.

An own goal from Craig Cathcart put the Gunners ahead with just nine minutes of regular time to play, before Mesut Ozil made sure of the points just moments later.

Bournemouth bounced back from their shock defeat to Burnley in matchday six with a win over Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

Summer signing David Brooks scored after just five minutes to get his first goal for the Cherries only for Patrick van Aanholt to level ten minutes into the second half.

Drama

However, a late penalty from Junior Stanislas wrapped up a fourth win in seven league games for Eddie Howe’s side this season and keeps them within touching distance of the top four.

Leicester City eased past Newcastle United to rise to eighth place after a Jamie Vardy spot-kick and a Harry Maguire header gave them a 2-0 triumph in the North East.

Rafael Benitez’s men are one of three sides yet to win this season along with Huddersfield and Cardiff City, who were beaten by Burnley on Sunday afternoon.

After securing their first win of the season in matchday six the Clarets were knocked out of the EFL Cup by League One Burton Albion but returned to winning ways in South Wales to move up to twelfth place.

Everton sit in eleventh after they beat Fulham by three goals to nil at Goodison Park with all the action coming in the second-half.

Resolve

Gylfi Sigurdsson missed a penalty on fifty-two minutes but made amends shortly after before Cenk Tosun doubled the hosts’ advantage.

Sigurdsson then grabbed his second of the game late on to see the Toffees win after they had picked up just one point for their previous three fixtures.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are up to ninth place after beating Southampton 2-0 – the goals coming from Ivan Cavaleiro and Jonny while Manchester United are a place below in tenth after losing to resurgent West Ham United.

The Hammers were two-up by half-time thanks to Felipe Anderson’s opener and a Victor Lindelof own-goal while Mark Arnautovic put the result beyond doubt shortly after Marcus Rashford had pulled one back for Jose Mourinho’s side.
