With another chance to widen their buffer over Celtic, Rangers will make the trip to the Tony Macaroni Arena on Sunday afternoon as they look to make another statement.

Starting with the hosts, while Livingston might have shocked many when opening 2020 during last year’s interrupted campaign, it has been a worrying start for Gary Holt’s men this time around. Showing some of the issues that haunted them at the back end before the 2019 campaign was brought to an early finish, the Yellows have managed to collect just a single point from their opening three Premiership outings. Despite managing to come from behind and grab a point against fellow strugglers Motherwell earlier in the week, Livingston’s recent issues were highlighted by a dreadful 4-1 hammering at home against Hibs earlier in the month. Facing an unenviable task on Sunday afternoon and failing to win any of their last eight meetings carrying on from late season, Holt’s men should be in for another overwhelming test this weekend.

As for the visitors, with Celtic still unable to feature due to off-field issues, Rangers will know they have another golden opportunity to extend their buffer. Despite watching their extended Europa League run come to an end against German outfit Bayer Leverkusen earlier in the month, Steven Gerrard’s side have laid down an early marker since opening the New Year. Along with once again impressing in what turned out to be a 3-0 romp against St. Johnstone, the former England midfielder has seen his men win each of their opening three Premiership contests, only Hibernian can match their 100% start to the new season. Also landing another 3-0 win when they hosted St. Mirren last weekend, it is hard to see anything other than the Blues continuing on their recent purple patch at the Tony Macaroni Arena.
