Ranieri questions Cahill deal

“Gary is a very important player and for us it would be fantastic. I don’t know if he wants to come and fight with us”.

Those are the words of Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri who has revealed his thoughts and opinions on the possible transfer of Gary Cahill. The 33 year old defender’s time at Chelsea finally appears to be up, after spending the last seven years with the Blues. He had a mixed set of fortunes in that time, going from one of their first choice defenders to being little more than an after thought.

A move to Fulham would certainly mark a step down but it would also mark a very short move across town for the England international, given that Fulham are Chelsea’s local rivals.

Cahill is clearly moving into the twilight of his career, but even with that being evident, he still seems hell bent on playing at the highest level for as long as he possibly can.
