Reading 1/1 to beat Rotherham in Saturday’s Championship matchup

Competition: Championship

Market: Reading win

Odds: 1/1 @ 888sport

With another golden chance to cash in on their recent purple patch, a high-flying Reading will welcome Rotherham to the Madejski on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, once again managing to pick up a 1-0 win against Wycombe earlier in the week, the mood in Reading’s camp should only be at a red-hot high after what has been a stunning start to the 2020/2021 campaign. Appearing to have found a new lease of life under Head Coach Veljko Paunović, the Royals suddenly find themselves holding a three-point buffer at the top of the Championship after Bristol City’s slip-up away at Middlesbrough on Tuesday night. One of just two sides who are still yet to taste defeat since opening the New Year, Reading also have a real reputation for their rugged displays at the back. Once again recording a clean sheet against Wycombe earlier in the week, Saturday’s hosts have gone almost 300 minutes without picking the ball out of their own net and have conceded just a single goal in any of their six Championship appearances this season.

As for the visitors, while Rotherham might have marked their Championship return with a 1-0 win against Wycombe on their travels, the Millers have struggled to keep up that momentum. While they might have managed to snatch an equalizer away at fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest earlier in the week, the Reds have now failed to win any of their last five second-tier contests on the bounce and some have already tipped Paul Warne’s men to be at the heart of a real relegation scrap this season. In for a tricky test when they travel to the Championship’s high-flyers on Saturday afternoon, Rotherham could also be concerned by their side’s worrying record at the Madejski. Remarkably, they have failed to win any of their eight trips to Reading, a run that has seen them also lose four of their last five trips down South.
