A first-half brace from Club Brugge’s Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis saw Real Madrid make unwanted history in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Madrid sensationally fell 2-0 down to Brugge inside 39 minutes at the Santiago Bernabeu, heaping further pressure on head coach Zinedine Zidane following a 3-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain on matchday one.

Dennis’ goals extended a miserable recent run for Los Blancos, who have now conceded two or more goals in three successive home European games for the first time in their history.

A stunning 4-1 loss to Ajax brought Madrid’s bid for a fourth successive European crown to an end in March, while CSKA Moscow ran out 3-0 winners at the Bernabeu in December.

Another home humbling was in prospect against Brugge, although Madrid still had 45 minutes to turn things around.
