Holding a 2-1 advantage and with one foot in the final of this year’s Copa del Rey, a high-flying Real Sociedad will make the trip to Mirandes on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Mirandes may have shocked many with their exploits in this year’s Copa del Rey, the Segunda outfit have begun to show some real signs of fatigue. Including being hit with a 2-1 defeat when they made the trip to Sociedad last month, Head Coach Andoni Iraola has seen his side fail to record a single victory across any format over the past month. Despite picking up the scalps of Celta Vigo, Sevilla, and Villereal in this year’s tournament, Wednesday could be one step too far for Los Rojillos. Likely to still be feeling the effects after being hit with a shock 3-2 defeats against relegation scrappers Extremadura UD 10 days ago, it should also be noted that Mirandes have managed to land just a sole victory on home soil in their last five appearances.

As for the visitors, picking up what was a deserved 1-0 win against Real Valladolid last weekend, the mood in Real Sociedad’s camp couldn’t be any higher. Cementing their spot as one of Spain’s surprise packages this season, La Real find themselves in the midst of what has been an astonishing five-match winning run. Still firmly in the hunt to bring Champions League football back to the Reale Arena, Head Coach Imanol Alguacil has also seen his side continue to show some real strengths in the final third. Including picking up what was a stunning 3-0 win over Valencia last week and also now winning eight of their last nine matches across all competitions, there is no doubt that Sociedad will be looking to make another statement on Wednesday night.
