Richards set for City exit

The Metro understands that Liverpool are set to make a move for Manchester City’s Michah Richards, after the defender was told that he could move on by manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The 25 year old, who was linked with a move to Brendan Rodgers’ side back in January, has turned down the opportunity to pen a new deal with the Capital One Cup winners, leaving the door open for the Reds to make an offer.

Birmingham born Richards has made just seven appearances in all competitions so far this season, having fallen down the pecking order at Eastlands.

He has turned out for City 179 in total over nine campaigns, scoring eleven goals while at international level he won the last of his thirteen caps for England in a 3-2 friendly defeat to the Netherlands in February 2012 though he did play all four games for Team GB in the 2012 Olympic Games.
