Romelu Lukaku, who joined Inter Milan from Manchester United this summer, was subjected to racist abuse from the stands of the Sardegna Arena in Cagliari.
As he stepped up to take the penalty which turned out to be the moment that settled the game, uncouth noises were being made by (presumably) the home fans with the clear intention of racial insult.
It’s impossible to accept that this kind of behaviour is still being tolerated in 2019.
