Rooney joins Newcastle shortlist

According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Wayne Rooney has entered the shortlist to become Newcastle United’s new manager.

There’s a great deal of uncertainty in the air right now regarding the immediate future of Steve Bruce and how long he’ll remain in charge at the club. Some feel as if it’s just a matter of time before he goes, especially after the Tottenham defeat, whereas others want to see him carry on  for a few more weeks before inevitably being replaced by the new owners.

Wayne Rooney, who is currently in charge at Derby County, is said to be “interested” in the position if Bruce does wind up departing sooner rather than later.

Rooney has had to deal with his own share of adversity in recent times after Derby went into administration, with the one question mark over this rumour being Rooney’s determination to try and keep the Rams in the Championship despite their points deduction.
