Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs could become a coach at the club as soon as next season.

New United boss David Moyes is keen to utilise the experience of Giggs, with the Welsh midfielder likely to be offered a player-coach role at Old Trafford for the 2013-14 campaign.

The 39-year-old’s playing time is set to diminish further next season and Giggs wants to continue his 26-year involvement with the club at both junior and senior levels.

Giggs revealed he has almost secured his coaching badges and said that although combining studying and his career has been a hard slog at times, becoming a coach at United was a “natural progression” for him.

“I’m close to finishing the necessary qualifications now,” Giggs told the Daily Mirror.

“I’ve done that while I’m playing, which at times can be tough, doing homework and going on course while you’re still playing, or doing coaching sessions after training.

“It’s the natural progression, but whether I’ll do it straight away or take a bit of time off when I finish, I don’t know.”
