Hoping to build off of their stellar result in midweek, Sassuolo will welcome Empoli to the Mapei Stadium on Sunday afternoon smelling a golden chance.

Starting with the hosts, making the trip to Italian heavyweights Juventus earlier in the week, Sassuolo only once again underlined why they have largely impressed many across Serie A so far this season. Finding a way to build off of a 3-1 romp at home against Venezia on October 23rd, the Neroverdi have now lost just one of their last five top-flight contests. With that sole defeat coming at the hands of defending champions Inter Milan, Sassuolo should be smelling a real chance on Sunday afternoon. It should also be noted, the last time they welcome Empoli to the Mapei Stadium, Dionisi’s men picked up a 1-0 victory.

As for the visitors, while Empoli might have picked up a much-needed victory away at Salernitana last weekend, it appears that might have just been a minor boost for the Serie A returners. Largely failing to build off of what was an eye-catching start to the 2021/22 campaign, the Blues were last seen in midweek getting hit with a deserved 2-0 defeat against Inter Milan on home soil. In fact, including back-to-back losses against Roma and Atalanta earlier in the month, Gli Azzurri have lost three of their last four top-flight outings. Knowing that they should face a stern test when they make the trip to the Mapei Stadium on Sunday afternoon, Aurelio Andreazzoli has also seen his side showing some worrying issues at the back.
