Only looking to widen their buffer at the top of the table, a high-flying Shelbourne will host Cabinteely at Tolka Park on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, managing to land themselves a deserved 2-1 victory against Cork City last week, Shelbourne really are a side who are cruising towards an immediate Premier Division return. With the mood in their camp at a red-hot high and already holding a commanding 11-point buffer at the top of the table, the Dublin-based outfit have cruised their way to the top of the table. Still yet to taste defeat since opening the 2021 campaign, Ian Morris’ side ae now in the midst of an extended seven-match winning run, a run that stems all the way back to the end of April. Gaining a reputation for their free-scoring displays, Shelbourne should be smelling a golden chance this weekend and they should also be excited by their most recent meeting against Friday’s guests. When the two sides last faced off back on April 23rd, Morris’ men picked up a 3-1 victory on the road.

As for the visitors, while the mood in Shelbourne’s camp is at a real high, Cabinteely have shown some worrying inconsistencies over the past month. Despite picking up that much-needed 2-0 victory away at Cork City on June 11th, Pat Devlin’s side have really failed to build off of that result and are a side seeking a boost. Last seen putting in another sluggish display and suffering a 2-1 defeat against UCD, Cabo have suffered back-to-back First Division defeats and have collected three points from their last four contests. Slipping out of the promotion chase and suffering that thumping 3-1 defeat when they faced off against the runaway league leaders back in April, we’re backing another tough night for Cabinteely on Friday.
