Siem de Jong on Newcastle radar

Newcastle United are keeping close tabs on Ajax hotshot Siem de Jong, according to Sunday People.

The Magpies have yet to sign a replacement for Yohan Cabaye and they believe the Netherlands international could be an answer to their problems.

Sunday People is reporting that Newcastle are considering a summer bid for the £12 million rated footballer, whose younger brother Luuk is currently on loan at St James’ Park.

Siem de Jong came through the youth ranks at Ajax and he has long ago established himself as a key player at Amsterdam ArenA.

The attacking midfielder has scored staggering 57 goals in 167 Eredivisie outings, but he has only earned 6 Netherlands caps up to date.

Ajax sit six points clear at the top of Dutch Eredivisie with mere three games to go and they have been made 1/5 favourites to defeat ADO Den Haag later today and make a giant step towards fourth consecutive league title.
