Simeone dismisses talk of signing his son

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has dismissed rumours of him bringing his son Giovanni to Wanda Metropolitano.

According to Marca, Simeone spoke on TV about the matter and revealed he has no intention of signing his son, ever. As the reason for this stance, the 48-year-old simply says having your own kid in the dressing room is not something he wants in his career.

Giovanni spent four seasons as a River Plate player in Argentina, two of which he spent on loan at Banfield. He moved to Genoa in 2016, and then to Fiorentina a year later. For the Viola the 23-year-old striker has so far made a total of 42 appearances, with 15 goals to his name.

He has been linked with joining his father this summer, but it seems ‘El Cholito’ won’t be plying his trade at Atletico just yet. However, Diego left the possibility of the transfer happening when he leaves the club wide open, adding that his son has everything as a football player.
