Siqueira set for Napoli switch

Serie A top-table dwellers Napoli look set to sign defender Guilherme Siqueira on a free transfer, various Italian media outlets are reporting.

Partenopei have been linked with a number of defensive targets this winter as their chase for Faouzi Ghoulam replacement continues. On the other side, Nikola Maksimovic left for Spartak Moscow after failing to adapt to Maurizio Sarri’s style of play and Napoli are currently in an emergency situation at the back.

Napoli been heavily linked with a move for Sime Vrsaljko who ended up signing a new Atletico Madrid deal and it now appears that a former Atletico Madrid defender could be the solution in the end.

The 31-year-old Siqueira has been a free agent since June after Atletico Madrid decided not to renew his contract.

Following the total of 120 appearances in Spanish top flight, Siqueira looks set for a return to Italy where he already performed in the past as an Udinese, Lazio and Ancona player.
