Sporting Clube de Portugal moved above Lisbon rivals SL Benfica in the Liga, ahead of the sides’ Portuguese Cup semi-final meeting on Wednesday, after two headers in eight minutes from Tonel and Liedson gave them a 2-0 home win against struggling Leixões SC.

Paulo Bento’s team are now a point ahead of Benfica, who lost 3-0 at home to A. Académica de Coimbra on Friday, and two adrift of Vitória SC in second. The Guimaraes side beat Boavista FC 1-0 on Saturday.
