Spurs join race to sign Austin

Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin, according to the Mirror.

Spurs’ boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to bring in a new forward with the new season set to kick off this weekend, and has identified the twenty-five year old as his top target.

Emmanuel Adebayor looks set to move away from White Hart Lane in the coming weeks, while star man Harry Kane has been linked with a big money move to weekend opponents Manchester United.

Newcastle United were seemingly the front runners in the race to secure Austin’s services though they, Leicester City and West Ham United have so far refused to stump up the asking price of £15m.

The former Swindon Town and Burnley man moved to Loftus Road two summers ago, and has so far racked up seventy-three appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring thirty-eight goals.
