Stoke 1/2 to beat Peterborough in Saturday’s Championship showdown

Competition: Championship

Market: Stoke win

Odds: 1/2 @ 888sport

Desperate to extend their stay in the play-off spots this weekend, Stoke will host Peterborough on Saturday afternoon when both sides return from the international break.

Starting with the hosts, after enduring a nightmare run of form last month, Stoke will be really hoping that they have managed to find their feet once again. Marking their return to action this weekend still sat in the play-off spots, the Potters have largely impressed many across the Championship since opening the 2021/22 campaign. With their sights set on securing a Premier League return this season, Michael O’Neill’s men were last seen heading into the break with back-to-back 1-0 wins against Luton and Blackpool. Smelling a real chance on home soil, the former Northern Ireland boss will now be hoping for his side to find some stability at the Bet365 Stadium. Including that action-packed 3-3 draw against Cardiff on October 30th, Stoke have failed to win any of their last three home fixtures on the spin.

As for the visitors, while Stoke might find themselves returning from the break battling it out in the play-off chase, Peterborough are enduring a different scrap at the foot of the table. Last seen heading into the international break with a 1-0 loss against Fulham, the Championship returners have gained a reputation for their inconsistencies. Holding just a three-point buffer from dropping into the bottom-three, the Blues have managed to muster just a single point from their last three contests. In fact, despite briefly finding a boost last month, Darren Ferguson’s men have won just a pair of their last nine Championship matchups, a run that stems back to September 18th. Likewise, it should also be noted, losing six of their seven away fixtures since opening the 2021/22 campaign, we’re backing another tough afternoon for Peterborough here.
