Stoke City close in on McClean deal

Stoke City are closing in on a deal for West Bromwich Albion defender James McClean, according to the Mail Online.

The Republic of Ireland international is set to become Gary Rowett’s third signing since becoming Stoke manager with deals already concluded for Benik Afobe and Oghenekaro Etebo.

The former Derby County and Birmingham City boss is also eyeing deals for Bournemouth’s Jordon Ibe and fellow winger Junior Hoilett of Cardiff City.

McClean is entering his final year at the Hawthorns having signed for them from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2015 while he has also played for Sunderland.

The twenty-nine-year-old has made one hundred and eleven appearances in all competitions for the Baggies, scoring five goals.

Internationally he has been capped fifty-nine times, scoring ten goals and he was part of the squads that attended the 2012 European Championships in Poland and Ukraine and the tournament in France four years later.
