Sunderland quartet could leave in the summer

Sunderland are facing the prospect of losing a number of their first team squad on free transfers at the end of the season, according to the Mail Online.

Jack Colback, Phil Bardsley, Sebastian Larrson and Craig Gardner – all of whom played in the side’s gallant defeat to Manchester City in Sunday’s Capital One Cup final, are out of contract at the end of the campaign.

Talks with Colback and Bardlsey have begun, though Laarson and Gardner are yet to open discussions, with the Black Cats’ precarious top flight status believed to be a key factor in any negotiations.

The club currently sit in eighteenth position in the Premier League, but do have games in hand on all of the other sides in the bottom half of the table.

However, their attentions will turn to their FA Cup quarter final against Hull City this weekend, where they are priced at 5/2 for the win.
