Simply looking to extend on what has been a hugely impressive run of form, Sweden will make the trip to Batumi on Thursday evening when they face off against Georgia.

Starting with the hosts, while Georgia might have managed to land a shock 2-1 win away at Kosovo last month, it appears that could just turn out to be a minor boost for the European strugglers. Long since seeing any chance of securing a top-two finish in Group B go out the window, Head Coach Willy Sagnol previously found his side enduring a five-match losing run before their trip to Kosovo on October 12th. With that run highlighted by a 4-1 friendly drumming against Bulgaria earlier in the year, the Crusaders have also gained a reputation for their continued issues on home soil. Last seen in Batumi getting hit with a deserved 2-0 loss at the hands of Greece, Georgia have collected just a single point from any of their last six straight home fixtures, a run that stems all the way back to October 2020.

As for the visitors, while Georgia might find themselves in the midst of a continued qualifying struggle, the same cannot be said for a Sweden side who find themselves riding a real wave. All but already securing a spot at next year’s World Cup finals, the Yellows are storming their way to Group B champions. Last seen on October 12th picking up a 2-0 win against Greece, Head Coach Janne Andersson has seen his side receive a string of praise. In fact, including a stunning 2-1 win against European heavyweights Spain earlier in the year, Sweden have won four of their last five matchups across all formats. Simply with their sights set on laying down another marker on their travels in midweek, Thursday’s guests will also be boosted by their previous meeting against Georgia. Claiming a deserved 1-0 win when the two nations last faced off back in March, we’re backing a similar away win here.
