Terry hopeful of new Blues deal

John Terry is hopeful that his form for Chelsea so far this season will help him earn a new contract with the club, the Metro understands.

The Blues captain marked his 400th Premier League appearance with a goal yesterday afternoon, as Jose Mourinho’s men beat Southampton 3-1 to rise to second place in the division.

Terry, who turns 33 on Saturday, has played every minute in the league since Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge, and his form has led to many calling for him to come out of international retirement.

His current deal expires at the end of this season, by which time the former Three Lions skipper could have made his 600th appearance for the club.

He is set to lead the Blues out against Sunderland on Wednesday afternoon where they will be hoping to keep the pressure on league leaders Arsenal, and is priced at 6/1 to score at any time.
