The Inter Milan superstars attracting Premier League interest

While there might have been a string of speculation surrounding Antonio Conte’s future at the San Siro last summer, Inter Milan have only continued to shock many across Europe once again this season.

Eventually only just missing out on lifting their first Serie A crown since 2010 last year, the former Chelsea boss finds his side almost in a two-horse title chase with bitter rivals AC Milan.

Flying high from that stunning 2-0 win against Juventus last weekend, it is no surprise to see that a number of their biggest stars have reportedly been attracting a string of Premier League interest this month.

Romelu Lukaku

While Pep Guardiola might have announced earlier in the week that he believes Manchester City won’t be making any signings this month, the Sky Blues have been heavily linked with a move for a red-hot Romelu Lukaku.

While the Belgian star might have failed to find his feet during a two-year stay across Manchester at Old Trafford, Lukaku has played a vital part in Inter’s dramatic rise since making the move to Italy back in August 2019.

Quickly becoming one of Europe’s most clinical strikers after bagging 34 goals from 51 matches in his maiden season at the San Siro, the one-time Chelsea starlet has only continued on his free-scoring run this campaign.

Already netting 17 goals and spearheading Belgium’s charge to this summer’s delayed European Championships, there is no doubt that Manchester City fans would relish Lukaku’s arrival.

With still no signs of Sergio Aguero signing a contract extension at the Etihad, The Telegraph reported earlier in the week that Pep Guardiola has Lukaku at the top of his striking wishlist as he is set to be handed a £200million transfer kitty.

Nicolò Barella

While Lukaku’s goalscoring antics might have seen him steal most of the headlines for the Serie A title-chasers, there is no doubt that Nicolò Barella has only continued to gain a string of admirers from across Europe.

Really at the heart of everything positive that Inter Milan has produced this season and getting himself on the scoresheet against Juventus last weekend, the 23-year-old has quickly transformed into arguably Italy’s standout midfielder.

Gaining a stacked highlights reel of assists since debuting for the club in 2019, Barella was billed as “perfect in every respect” by Antonio Conte at the San Siro last weekend and Inter fans know just how important the one-time Cagliari starlet has become.

Initially brought in on a year-long deal with an obligation to buy with a four-year contract, it has been reported by both The Guardian and The Daily Mail that Barella has gained some heavyweight Premier League admirers.

On a contract with Inter that runs until 2024, the 18-cap Italy international is reportedly on the radar of both Tottenham and defending champions Liverpool, despite the fact that Conte’s side won’t let him go on the cheap.

Christian Eriksen

While Inter Milan might be bullish about not wanting to let either Lukaku or Barella leave the San Siro anytime soon, it is no secret that I Nerazzurri are desperate to get Christian Eriksen out of the exit this month.

Making the move to the Italian giants in a cut-price fee of around £16.9million only 12 months ago, there is no doubt that the Danish playmaker finds himself in the midst of a Serie A nightmare.

Drastically struggling to find his feet under Conte and with CEO Giuseppe Marotta confirming last month that Eriksen is on their transfer list, it has been widely reported over the past week that the 28-year-old could be set on making a Premier League return.

Seeking regular first-team action ahead of this year’s European Championships, it was reported by Sky Sports earlier in the month that Eriksen has been offered to both West Ham and Manchester United.

However, despite partying ways with Tottenham 12 months ago, Italian football expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Eriksen could already be on his way back to North London.
