Top ten Premier League signings this summer (Part Two)

I started the list of my top ten Premier League summer signings yesterday with the first five and today I am going to list the remaining five (in no particular order) so here goes:

6) Wes Brown (Sunderland)

This may be a strange choice but the defender has experience of playing at the top level of the game with Manchester United and been a good squad player for the last decade.

He may not have been first choice at United but he’s played in the Champions League and also played for England at international level.

Brown also didn’t cost the Mackems a fortune. Although he isn’t quite a top player anymore, he will however prove to be a good solid defensive player for Steve Bruce’s side. And at 31 years of age he still has a few years at the top left in him.

7) Gervinho (Arsenal)

The Ivory Coast international has been a big hit in French football and helped Lille to the Ligue One title last season. He was one of the best players in French football and is highly-rated. Gervinho scored 18 goals in all competitions as Lille also claimed the French cup.

The success he has at the Emirates Stadium next season will depend on how well he settles into life in England. The striker is full of pace and skill and will no doubt fit in easily at the Emirates.

8 ) Jamie O’Hara (Wolves)

The midfielder enjoyed a successful spell on-loan at Molineux last season. He has now completed a permanent £3.5million transfer to the Midlands club. The midfielder was also outstanding in a previous spell on-loan at Portsmouth.

The 24 year-old thrived on playing first team football and went from strength to strength last season. O’Hara could prove a real bargain. Tottenham may one day regret the fact that they sold the midfielder.

9) Roger Johnson (Wolves)

The 28 year-old defender joined Wolves from Birmingham for a fee in the region of £4million. Johnson has proved himself to be one of the most solid centre-backs in the country in recent years.

He’s even been mentioned as a potential England international of the future. The transfer fee will prove a bargain if he helps the club stay in the Premier League next season. This is another piece of shrewd business by Wolves boss Mick McCarthy.

10) Sebastian Larsson (Sunderland)

Another new arrival at Sunderland. He was a teammate of Johnson at Birmingham last season and arrives at the Stadium of Light on a free transfer. The 26 year-old midfielder is a set-piece specialist and is capable of producing moments of magic.

His form dipped slightly last season with speculation surrounding his future proving a distraction. Now he has made a fresh start hopefully he will regain his form.

Value

Quite a few big money transfers have taken place this summer but a lot of the players who have moved have been overpriced. Most of the players on my list have been signed for low fees or are young enough to justify their fees.

Who would be in your top ten summer Premier League signings?
